Supporting scalable nature insights through interface optimisation
Okala is building the infrastructure for nature intelligence. Their platform enables organisations to gather, analyse, and report on nature data using a powerful combination of AI, APIs, and satellite and sensor integration. Ahead of a new public release, the Okala team needed additional front-end expertise to ensure the platform’s user experience met the same high standards as its backend capabilities.

Okala’s internal engineering team had laid the foundations for a powerful software platform. But as they prepared to launch, it became clear that specialised front-end expertise was needed to refine the UI and improve the overall user experience across browsers and devices.

We provided focused product design and front-end development to uplift the Okala interface. This included:
- UI Standardisation: Consistent spacing, labelling, button styles, and form inputs across defined pages.
- Component Library: Standardised elements such as menus, modals, and icons to create a unified and scalable interface.
- Navigation & UX Improvements: Enhanced search, filters, pagination, and table layouts for improved usability.
- Design System: Introduced a scalable design framework to futureproof the platform and improve maintainability.

The engagement resulted in a polished, consistent interface that significantly improved usability across devices and browsers. Okala successfully launched its beta testing campaign on schedule. Feedback was overwhelmingly positive, highlighting the platform’s clarity, visual coherence and ease of use, validating the design improvements and positioning the product strongly for public release. Our engineers worked in close partnership with Okala’s in-house development team so they could use the design system to ship more enhancements autonomously going forwards.
Futures Wild jumped straight into our codebase and delivered real value with minimal ramp-up. Their front-end input helped elevate our product ahead of launch, and the feedback from users has been fantastic.
